IntelliSafe Assist XC40
IntelliSafe Assist makes it easier and safer to drive where you want and the road takes you. IntelliSafe Assist consists of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Pilot Assist.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
This is cruise control with an additional function that adapts the speed to a slower vehicle in front. If the vehicle in front slows down, the adaptive cruise control ensures that your car follows the vehicle's speed and if necessary stops it. If the vehicle in front is stationary for less than three seconds, your car will follow the vehicle as soon as it starts again.
The driver can at any time choose to switch off the adaptive cruise control and instead engage the normal cruise control. The system uses a radar unit in the window. When the car is following another vehicle at a speed above 70 km/h and the driver notices an imminent overtake by the car's direction indicators, the Adaptive cruise control assists. The Adaptive cruise control allows you to follow another vehicle at speeds from standstill up to 200 km/h
Adaptive cruise control is supplemented with Pilot Assist. It not only assists the driver to keep a certain distance from and speed of the vehicle ahead but also, via steering assistance, helps keep the car in the middle of the lane.1 This occurs by the camera and radar unit in the window reading off the car's position in relation to the visible road markings and the vehicle in front. Pilot Assist can provide steering assistance from standstill up to 130 km/h.
This accessory is only suitable for cars with an automatic gearbox.
